Laguna Grande Regional Park, Seaside's Neighborhood Lake
1.4 Miles | 4 Minutes Drive
Laguna Grande Regional Park wraps around a small lake on the border of Seaside and Monterey, about four minutes from Sand Castle Inn. The park is owned and managed together by the City of Seaside, the City of Monterey, and the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District, and it has been a public park since 1950.
Walking paths follow the lake and its natural habitat area, where you can spot ducks, herons, and other water birds. There is a playground, restrooms, and picnic tables and barbecue areas for a relaxed afternoon, and the Coastal Recreation Trail and Monterey State Beach are a short walk away, past neighboring Roberts Lake.
