The Corkscrew corner at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

A Seaside Base for Race Weekends at Laguna Seca

8.8 Miles | 19 Minutes Drive

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is about 19 minutes from Sand Castle Inn, in the hills off Highway 68. The circuit is known around the world for the Corkscrew, a steep, blind left-right drop that is one of the most famous corners in racing.

The track's calendar includes professional sports car racing, motorcycle races, the Sea Otter Classic cycling festival in April, and vintage racing during Monterey Car Week in August. On race weekends, rooms on the Peninsula fill fast, and a Seaside base keeps you off the busiest downtown Monterey streets.

Tips

  • Book your room as soon as the race dates are announced.
  • Leave early on race mornings. Highway 68 backs up near the entrance.
  • Pack sun protection and a warm layer. Afternoons in the hills can turn cool and windy.
