Hotel Near Monterey State Beach in Seaside

The closest beach to Sand Castle Inn is Monterey State Beach, about four minutes away on the Seaside and Sand City shore. Long, open stretches of sand and dunes curve along the bay here, with views back across the water to Monterey, Pacific Grove, and the hills of the Peninsula.
It is a beach for long walks, kite flying, and watching the sunset rather than swimming. The Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail runs just inland, so you can walk or bike from here all the way to Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row without getting back in the car.
Tips
- The water is cold and the surf can be strong. Enjoy the beach, and take care in the water.
- Stay on marked paths through the dunes to protect the plants that hold them together.
- Bring a windbreaker. Afternoon breezes are common on this part of the bay.
